Gurugram April 2022 | Preface

Gurugram April 2022 | Preface Om Namah Sivaya Blessed Self Greetings from all staff in the Sivananda Centres and Ashrams! A highlight of  2022 was the celebration of Mahasivaratri. All Centres and Ashrams celebrated it with all or part of the night chanting of the “Om Namah Sivaya” mantra, Siva Bhajans and Pujas to honor Lord Siva in the form of the Siva Lingam. The celebration was also shared online with hundreds of enthusiastic and grateful students who spend most of the night with us. It was touching to see the sincerity of the [...]

Sivananda Yoga FAQ March 2022

Sivananda Yoga FAQ Q 1: Was Srimad Bhagavad Gita actually recited by Lord Krishna in the battlefield or is it the imagination of the poet? A: Yes. There is no doubt about the Gita having been recited by Lord Krishna in the battlefield. It is not a mere composition of Chiranjivi (eternally living) Vyasa. Recall to mind the following two Slokas which can be found in the Gita Mahatmya: Gita Sugeeta Kartavya Kimanyaih Sastravistaraih Ya Svayam Padmanabhasya Mukhapadmadvinissruta Bharatamritasarvasvam Vishnorvaktradvinissrutam Gitagangodakam Peetva Punarjanma Na Vidyate The Gita is not a human composition at all. Sivananda World News: The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashrams Sivananda Ashram Yoga Camp, Val Morin, Quebec, Canada Om Namah Sivaya. In early February the Krishna Temple was looking nicer and nicer, as we continued with the painting in the lobby, laundry room and kitchen. The advertising projects continued for the Camp and Montreal Centre, preparing for the opening on February 14. The online TTC students remained inspired, producing good marks on their exams. Chandrika from Reith gave two very well received lectures on "Science and Yoga" and "Ayurveda". Our evening Satsangs online attracted more students [...]

Hatha Yoga Tip March 2022

Hatha Yoga Tip PRANAYAMA – Pranayama for Nadi-Suddhi The Vayu cannot enter the Nadis if they are full of impurities. Therefore, first of all, they should be purified and then Pranayama should be practiced. The Nadis are purified by two processes, viz., Samanu and Nirmanu. The Samanu is done by a mental process with Bija Mantra. The Nirmanu is done by physical cleansing or the Shatkarmas. 1. Sit on Padmasana. Meditate on the Bijakshara of Vayu (Yam) which is of smoke colour. Inhale through the left nostril. Repeat the Bijakshara 16 times. This is [...]

Gurugram March 2022 | Preface

Gurugram March 2022 | Preface Om Namah Sivaya Blessed Self Greetings from all staff in the Sivananda Centres and Ashrams! February 2022 witnessed an increasing level of unrest in the world. Today feels important however not to yield to fear and instead to remember the power of thought. Remember we can call upon divine help and protection through our prayers and intense mantra chanting. Swami Sivananda says that faith can move mountains and that the power of the Divine Name is unfathomable. It seems humanity has put itself in such a tight spot that [...]

Sivananda Yoga FAQ | February 2202

Sivananda Yoga FAQ Q1: How can a person, who has been thinking in a negative way for a long time, change to positive thinking? A: Start with some positive suggestive formulas: “I am hale and hearty. I am healthy. There is nothing wrong with me. I was under a misconception of my own abilities and capacities. Now I have realized my real nature”. Do it with the help of a person advanced in Yoga or a devotee of the Lord. Start with a prayer to the Lord. Make prayer a part of daily life [...]

Sivananda World News: The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashrams

Sivananda World News: The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashrams Sivananda Ashram Yoga Camp, Val Morin, Quebec, Canada Om Namah Sivaya. Unfortunately the present situation does not allow us to hold on site  programs. Still we are doing our best to offer opportunities to practice yoga as much as possible during these difficult circumstances via our online programs. In early January the main focus was planning the different programs online, such as retreats, classes, workshops and Satsangs. Besides that, the staff concentrated on various projects like making inventory of the boutique, deep kitchen clean up, fixing tiles in [...]
