Crave for a thing, you will get it. Renounce the craving, the object will follow you by itself. – Sri Swami Sivananda
Raja Yoga
From Chapter II: “Sadhana Pada – On Spiritual Disciplines”
II.14. TE HLADA-PARITAPA-PHALAHPUNYAPUNYA-HETUTVAT.
‘They have pleasure or pain as their fruit, according to whether their cause is virtue or vice’.
Commentary:
Understanding this, the yogi strives to do only good actions and to accept peacefully the ill that comes his way so that all his seeds of Karma are burned and no new ones are known.
Love knows no fear. – Sri Swami Sivananda
Bhagavad Gita Quote
Chapter II: Sankhya Yoga
(Krishna speaking to Arjuna)
Krodhaad bhavati sammohah sammohaat smriti vibhramah;
Smritibhramshaad buddhinaasho buddhinaashaat pranashyati.
II.63. From anger comes delusion; from delusion loss of memory; from loss of memory the destruction of discrimination; from the destruction of discrimination he perishes.
COMMENTARY: From anger arises delusion. When a man becomes angry he loses his power of discrimination between right and wrong. He will speak and do anything he likes. He will be swept away by the impulse of passion and emotion and will act irrationally.
Raagadwesha viyuktaistu vishayaanindriyaishcharan;
Aatmavashyair vidheyaatmaa prasaadamadhigacchati.
II.64. But the self-controlled man, moving amongst objects with the senses under restraint, and free from attraction and repulsion, attains to peace.
Lord Krishna talks about a self controlled man and his vices. Lord Krishna says that only a person who is self controlled can attain peace. That attaining peace is process that starts with the person moving away from the objects. After moving away from the objects he needs to bring all the senses under his control. When senses are under his control he is neither pulled towards attraction or pulled away from repulsion and that person who is not affected by both attains peace. When peace is attained all miseries end.
Meditation and contentment are the secrets of good health and longevity. – Sri Swami Sivananda

That which appears and disappears; comes and goes.
Remember the saying, “This, too, will also pass”. Do not participate in the coming and going. Become the Witness of the coming and going.
A craving for comforts weakens your fibre. Lead a simple life. Be strong; be sinewy. – Sri Swami Sivananda
