Gurugram April 2019 | Preface

Blessed Self,
Om Namah Sivaya

Greetings from the Yoga Camp Sivananda Headquarters in Val Morin, Canada.

We had a very successful season in India, Bahamas and Vietnam for the winter months, while other Centres and Ashrams continued to thrive with new students and new programs.  The Sivananda Organization gives back and flourishes with well-received community programs in India.

We thank you all for your continued support and encouragement with these endeavours.

May Master and Swamiji’s grace guide us in all ways.

Pranams to all.

Life is but a play. Play well thy part in this drama. – Sri Swami Sivananda

Crave for a thing, you will get it. Renounce the craving, the object will follow you by itself. – Sri Swami Sivananda

Raja Yoga

From Discourse III: “Vibhuti Pada – On Divine Powers”

III.56. SATTVA-PURUSAYOH SUDDHI-SAMYE KAIVALYAM

‘Kaivalya (liberation) is attained when there is equality between “sattwa” (purity) and “Purusha” (the Soul)’.

Commentary:

Liberation takes place when the mind has the same purity as “Purusha” itself. The purified mind recognizes its nature as “Purusha”. The essence of this nature is, and always has been, bliss, freedom, peace, Self- sufficiency and perfection.

Character depends upon the quality of thought held in the mind, plus, the mental pictures and ideals entertained. – Sri Swami Sivananda

Bhagavad Gita Quote

Chapter VII: The Yoga of the Division of Wisdom

 VII.26. VEDAAHAM SAMATEETAANI VARTAMAANAANI CHAARJUNA;

BHAVISHYAANI CHA BHOOTANI MAAM TU VEDA NA KASHCHANA.

 (Krishna speaking to Arjuna)

I know, O Arjuna, the beings of the past, the present and the future, but no one knows Me.

VII.27. ICCHAADWESHASAMUTTHENA DWANDWAMOHENA BHAARATA;

SARVABHOOTAANI SAMMOHAM SARGE YAANTI PARANTAPA.

By the delusion of the pairs of opposites arising from desire and aversion, O Bharata, all beings are subject to delusion at birth, O Parantapa!

When anyone injures you, train yourself to cease to resent it. Try. Try. Try – Swami Sivananda
