Gurugram March 2016 | Preface

Blessed Self,
Om Namah Sivaya

By the grace of Master and Swamiji, we are able to share wonderful news. A small Sivananda project, named the Sivananda Rural Mobile Clinic has transformed very successfully into a Rural Medical Camp, near Madurai, South India.

It began with the Vishnu Wallani family, from Toronto Canada, donating a small ambulance and monthly expenses of a medical doctor, two nurses, a driver and a supervisor. This small vehicle travelled to and around 16 villages, providing checkups and consultations for poor people, beginning in October 2015.

This attracted Government attention and they provided us with three 101 Ambulances.  The organizer of this program was Dr. Narayana Sami, of Vikram Hospitals in Madurai, supporting the Sivananda Meenakshi Ashram. The doctor recruited many of his nurses and doctors from his hospitals, free of cost for the month of February, bringing them to his old age home near our Meenakshi Ashram and conducting a Sivananda Medical Camp. There were over 600 patients from 16 villages treated. It was a grand success, with a local landlord providing food for those attending the Medical Camp.

This also resulted in us rethinking and re-planning this Rural Mobile clinic into the Sivananda Rural Medical Hospital on a 15 cents land between our Ashram and the Dr. Narayana Sami’s Old Age Home. Here, we intend to conduct monthly regular Medical Camps for the poor and needy.

To purchase the land and build a hospital we are looking at a $250,000 initial capital. Vishnu’s family promised to take care of ongoing monthly expenses and some of the initial capital. We now ask and be open to any of your students and close devotees who would like to be a part of this enlightening project, benefitting those much in need.

To donate, please send an email to [email protected] for information on how to go about it.

May Master and Swamiji bless us all in our Sadhana and service around the World.

Pranams to all.

Practice Yoga. Meditate seriously. You will cross this ocean of darkness and ignorance and reach the Light and Life, everlasting. – Sri Swami Sivananda

Raja Yoga

From Discourse III: “Vibhuti Pada- On Divine Powers”

‘(by performing “samyama” on) another’s mind its mental images are known’

‘But other mental factors which are not the subject of “samyama” can not be known’.

“Samyama” performed on one’s physical body suspends the ability of another to it; the reflected light (from the body) does not come into contact with another’s eyes, hence the power of invisibility’.

Give up this inordinate clinging to this body. Let the body go. Identify yourself with the all-pervading immortal Soul. – Sri Swami Sivananda

Bhagavad Gita Quote

Chapter XV: The Yoga of the Highest Spirit

(Krishna speaking to Arjuna)

Presiding over the ear, the eye, touch, taste and smell, as well as the mind, he (the Lord) enjoys the objects of the senses.

The deluded do not see Him who departs, stays and enjoys; but they who possess the eye of knowledge behold Him.

Sense-control leads to peace and happiness. – Sri Swami Sivananda

SANTOSHA – satisfaction; contentment to that there is.

Santosha teaches us we can be be happy with wherever we are, who we are, right here, right now.

Swami Sivananda advises, “Create your inner world. Carry with you your own inner companions, viz., Shanti (Peace), Santosha (Contentment), Inquiry and Courage.”

Whatever is, is in reality, One. There truly exists only one universal Being, called Paramatman, or the Supreme Absolute. – Sri Swami Sivananda
