Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Zentrum, Berlin, Germany
Om Namah Sivaya! Students were coming back to their routine after the “60 years of Sivananda Yoga in the West” special program: A cooking course on vegetarian winter inspired a good group of students. We also had several seminars and workshops. First we had a day seminar entitled “Body and Mind in harmony”. Students were happy to spend a full day in the centre and dive deeper into the practice. Then there was a very successful preparation day for TTC with a good group of participants, some of them already registered for one of the upcoming TTCs. Also a workshop on overcoming fear took place, where many students came to learn and to practice how to overcome this restricting emotion. At the end they all left joyful and inspired. The following weekend a workshop on Yoga@home was attended by an inspired group eager to get information on how to practice at home. The workshop was followed by a practical class where practice units with different duration could be experienced. People left happy and inspired. Also we had a Yoga 1 weekend intensive course with good attendance. One week later the second part of the weekend intensive course took place. It was also well attended. New curtains for the meditation room have been ordered to protect the Altar so we can use the room also for Asana classes if necessary. We received the new brochure from the printer and the bulk mailing of the brochure was completed. Students like it very much and start to register for upcoming courses and workshops. OM.

Om Namah Sivaya. During the beginning of February we continued with the certificate course on ‘The Power of Hatha Yoga’. There was much prana in the Centre with the residential students, and a good group of the general public attending every day. The group staying at the Centre fully embraced the spirit of Karma Yoga and gave their love and attention to the Centre by cleaning, organizing and assisting in the kitchen. During the evenings there were Satsangs including topics such as bhakti and wellbeing, silent walks and impromptu meditations when weather conditions prevented the walk from going ahead. The The Power of Hatha Yoga program came to a conclusion with the students showing much gratitude for the course. We also held a special weekend program entitled ‘Positive Thinking – Living Life with Joy’ which brought many newcomers to the Centre. The day culminated in a chanting Satsang and some words on the virtue of inspiration. We welcomed a new staff member to the Centre for one month stay. Preparation speeds up for the TTC which was fast approaching!
By mid-February our priest arrived to prepare the Centre for an auspicious start to the TTC. We had Pujas every morning, with the altar looking more radiant and bright as the TTC arrival day drew nearer. As the students arrived Spring was in the air and the sun was shining on the Peace Garden and streaming through into the reception. We had a Lakshmi Yantra Puja that evening, and afterwards sat together at dinner time and got to know one another. The Inauguration Ceremony and a Puja for Lord Ganesha was offered to remove obstacles for a smooth running of the course. A new workstudy joined the staff for a month, meaning we have many hands now! Spring flowers were popping up through the soil, and the buds on the bushes were growing fat, waiting to open and show their glorious faces. Staff and residents were feeling much gratitude to be a part of the journey of the new TTCs. May the blessings of the Masters be with us all. OM.

To arrive at the ultimate inner peace, Prema taught 12 steps of spiritual preparation, purification and relinquishment. Prema lived her life as a pilgrim, serving as great demonstration and inspiration. Students are happy to find her teachings mirror Swamiji’s Five Points of Yoga, the teachings of Peace as eternal and universal. Om Namah Sivaya! It was beautiful in New York City during the beginning of February. Swami Shambu Devananda came from Bahamas to visit the Centre. He gave a very well-attended workshop on the topic “Relieving Stress Through Yoga”. It was insightful and we all learned a lot through it. After the workshop Swami ji led the Satsang and spoke about obstacles in meditation. We had a full house that evening. There was a snow storm in New York so we had to close the Centre post 12noon. Swami Shambu, who was supposed to leave back to Bahamas that morning, missed his flight and returned to the Centre after waiting the whole day at the airport. Swami ji had his flight rescheduled so he and Nicolas went to visit the Ranch returned for the rescheduled flight. We offered our regular deaf yoga class, with Gita, and also an Ayurvedic Cooking workshop, with Isani. The workshop was a total success and the students enjoyed being here and learning Indian cooking.

Very dedicated karma yogis helped reorganize the boutique and label all the items and books for the inventory. She spoke about Bhakti Yoga and left us all very inspired, as usual. Nicolas worked on updating the internal system for the Centre. The basement work was almost wrapped up. Nick, one of our karma yogis, spent a couple of days helping Neeti with the same. We enjoyed beautiful, warm and sunny days in NYC. All the Staff are well and send their pranams. Om.

Swami Kailasananda gave a wonderful workshop on the topic “The Aim of Hatha yoga” and two powerful Satsangs. Swamiji’s words and presence gave us inspiration and let us feel more in tune with the Masters and their teachings. He also gave a workshop-class on how to adjust variations and a big open class with teachers and students. Swami gave also a program: with an inspiring workshop on the topic of ‘practical pieces of advice to have a successful life’. A beautiful asana class with 75 students who looked fresh and full of energy after having taken the class. And a wonderful Satsang from ” Thought power” on the topic of how to get ride from negative thoughts by applying pratipaksha bhavani. At the beginning of the month, Swami Kailasananda had a meeting with the owner of the building to talk about the renovations that they will do this summer. We had also some meetings with the company who is doing the renovations to see some details before the starting of the works on the 6th. The renovations of the little asana room were carried out for one week and the renovations in the Meditation room followed the week after for two weeks. A professional plumber did some minor reparations in the kitchen and in all the bathrooms. The Meditation room looks luminous and spacious, it should be ready on the 24th for the Celebration of Sivaratri leaded by an Indian Priest. On the 10th the Swamis went to India. Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre, São Paulo, Brasil
Om Namah Sivaya from Sao Paulo. During the beginning of February we had a slight increase in the participation of students although the most remarkable was the activity on Open House Day, with a good participation of students and teachers. We also had a very participative Satsang with the direction of Krsna Das. The occasion was ideal to welcome four new teachers trained in Garopaba, who are very interested in starting to teach.

Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre, Tel Aviv, Israel
Om Namah Sivaya. The beginning of February was an eventful and fruitful time in the Tel-Aviv Centre. Registration to the upcoming Passover Retreat in April took off and 25% of the rooms were filled up. Upcoming courses were intensely promoted with good registration. Sivaratri’s atmosphere was in the air and many devotees from all over Israel were calling to participate in the festive preparations. We offered a concert with Shir Sofer, a multi-instrumentalist, who mesmerized us all with his Tibetan bowls, traditional Indian musical instruments and overtones singing. Over 60 people attended, amongst them many children.
By mid-February we focused all our prana in promoting the many new courses that will start in the next while. Registration progressed well as we enthusiastically filled up the whole program. Our new website was updated with many new pages and a new opening clip in the homepage. Amazingly enough it affected our SEO dramatically and our position, with many keywords, improved dramatically. A new Meditation course started with twelve students. We were sadly advised of the passing of a long time teacher, Omkar Ronen. Omkar had been teaching the Tuesday evening open class for many years and was always seen with a smile on his face. The staff dedicated Om Trayambakam for the safe journey of Omkar’s soul and attended his funeral. Pranams to the Sivananda family.
