For the beginning of February we started a new Beginners’ Yoga course. Roof renovation the the Chennai Centre went well, but this might be the reason for the slight drop in students at 9:30 Classes. We tried our level best to not disturb our students’ practice while the maintenance continued. Gopan & Santhosha went to Madurai Meenakshi Ashram. We organized a two day workshop on Pranayama one weekend which attracted quite a number of participants. Apart from that, we continued our regular chanting of Om Namo Narayanaaya every evening, Vishnu Sahasranama on Thursdays & Lalitha Sahasranama on Fridays and regular Satsangs.
We started with a new Beginners’ Yoga batch mid February. We welcomed our new staffs Ankit (Shiven) & Roopesh. They arrived with Nirmalaj Chaitanya & Srinivas. On the same day our Centre director Gopan went to Neyyardam for a two week treatment. Our roof renovation work finished. We began a new online private class at 5:00 am IST, with a lovely couple from Hong Kong. Social media promotions went well. Nirmala Chaitanya went back to Madurai with Kalki & Vedha. Satsangs were led by Sandhya. All our staffs are happy & doing their Sadhanas. Om.

Om Namah Sivaya. The London Centre is temporarily closed for onsite classes. We currently offer online classes and courses. You can reserve your online yoga class or course via MindBody. For more information, please call us on +44 (0) 208 780 0160 or if would like to receive our daily newsletter.
Online in February we offered a “One Week of Sadhana” program to all of our students, free of charge. About 100 students registered. Many of them expressed enthusiasm and gratitude for this special event. We had our first online Satsang. It was a bit of a test and some technical parts needed improvement but it was important to do it to reassure the mind that it is possible, in a rather simple way. The days were quite full throughout the week, with so many activities going on each day (4 to 6 online activities daily). We also concluded our 3 courses with the GPC company, which to be honest did not attract too many students, as the courses were offered free of charge to all the employees of the company. The outcome was that not many committed, but whoever followed the teaching enjoyed the courses very much. Savitri taught 2 courses and Kailas, one. Savitri and Sivapriya gave lots of their prana, enthusiasm and dedication to keep our students happy. Only a few yogis came to the Centre on a regular basis in spite of the lockdown. Because of the small number and how dedicated they are, the feeling was one of a little family sharing the teachings of the Masters on a daily basis, here at the London Centre.
The construction slowly started on our direct neighbor’s property. Scaffolding was put into place on both sides (garden side and street side) of the house. We had 3 bookings for the TTC-OnLine, which brings our number of TTC-OL registrations for March to 5. This is probably the highest number of UK registrations for a TTC-OL so far. We received confirmation that we would receive two grants from our council (local government body), which represent a substantial financial support in these very challenging times. We had very warm Spring-like days mid February, holding our first asana practice outdoor. Lots of people could be seen walking outside, in particular on the banks of the Thames River. The lockdown in the UK became tighter and tighter by the day. People were not allowed to run or cycle anymore in certain places. Karma yogis kept arriving regularly to support the Centre (Marian, Sasha, Kanti Devi (Gosia), Pina, and Rukmini). Our continued study of Master’s book “Vedanta in Daily Life” in the morning online Satsangs was most inspiring. We continued management of a dense class and course schedule. With best wishes for health and inner peace. Om Tat Sat. OM.
Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre, Los Angeles, CA, USA
Om Namo Narayanaya. Blessed Sivananda Yoga Community, the Sivananda Yoga Centre in Los Angeles is closed until California businesses are cleared to reopen. This challenging time is our opportunity to turn inward, deepen our practice and keep our community strong and healthy. Through Satsang and our collective positive thoughts, we support each other and the world. Visit our website for our online offerings: daily yoga classes, workshops and courses, plus Satsangs with Acharya Swami Sitaramananda. Boost your immune system by practicing all paths of Yoga; feel healthier and stronger in both body and mind.
In February the LA Centre remained closed due to a surge in COVID cases. The LA Staff lived at the Yoga Farm Ashram. Energy was high for the last week of the US TTC. Swami Sivasankariananda and Radha Chaitanya were busy observing the teaching groups. Swamiji taught the class on how to teach for prenatal and children, plus a Puja Workshop, and the final Asana and Pranayama classes. All students seemed strong, confident and ready to teach! Graduation ceremony with Swami Sitaramananda was a joy. We fit in Art of Processing Emotions for LA Centre and finished three 5-session courses: Raja Yoga Sutras (Chap 1), Meditation 1 and Yoga 1.
By mid month daffodils were blooming at the Yoga Farm. Our third 8-session Global Village grief support group started, facilitated by Swami Sivasankariananda and psychotherapist Yael Melamed. The groups were magical in their ability to connect participants with themselves and each other through the unpredictable and ultimately life-affirming process of grief, all through teaching, sharing and yoga. We offered Art of Processing Emotions workshops. A Pranayama 1 course finished. Swamiji and Ananda drove Ishwari back to LA and looked after the Centre for 2 days. It is an honor to support this mission. May our reach grow wider and wider. Om.

Classes and courses continued in good spirits! We were happy to remain open despite the Corona situation in Madrid. Several online seminars started and students were tuning well to this mode of teaching. The TTC-OL continued with an inspired and open minded group. We looked forward to the next course in March.
The Centre was well visited in February due to the nice weather. Karma yogis cleaned the patio, preparing for Spring. Two new online webinars started: Yoga and Stress Relief and a Meditation Course in Spanish. Enrollments for the March TTC-OL continued. Staff are well and sending our best wishes for health and peace. We were grateful to Master and Swamiji for inspiring so many souls on their path. Pranams to all. OM.

Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre, Montevideo, Uruguay
Om Namah Sivaya from the Montevideo Centre. During February the Centre’s activities continued to be very positive, both in person and online. We finished our Beginners’ Yoga course and those students registered for regular classes. Chandra continued teaching a lot, due Summer vacation for teachers. Dr. Padma prepared a very special free program, offering counselling in Ayurveda. The idea was to inspire healthy and positive new habits in daily live. We continued teaching in this South American TTC Online, organized by the European Centres. Also, we started announcing another TTC-OL in March. Chandra and Mahadev were working in a new web page. One Satsang was led by Vani Devi from Brazil. It was very inspiring to see lots of our teachers that usually accompanied us during TTC in Garopaba for years. It was full of music and sincere devotion. Swami Dayananda led a very beautiful talk from Swami Chidanandaji’s teachings. Kanti Devi shared the knowledge from Swami Sivananda and his book about, how to get a deep sleep. Simple and profound, Gurudev gave us a new perspective to improve our life and make it divine.
The students continued with their usual practices at the Centre, thanking the possibility of doing the practice despite the current pandemic conditions. We still maintained a strict sanitary protocol. Dr. Padma continued with the Free Ayurvedic Counseling and Beginners’ Yoga course. The February TTC-OL finished led by the European Centres. Everything was prepared very nicely for the teachers and students participating from several different countries. The ceremony was simple, but at the same time carried out with a lot of love and respect. Kanti Devi and Chandrashekar continued with Satsangs. Meanwhile we continued translating some articles from the new Yoga Life.
We are excited for the March TTC-OL, again held in conjunction with the Sivananda Yoga Centres of Europe. We pray intensely for peace and harmony in this world. May the Grace of Gurudev and Swamiji be upon us all. Om Shanti. Om.

Centre de Yoga Sivananda Vedanta, Paris, France
Om Namah Sivaya. The Paris Centre continued to chant daily online the Om Namo Narayanaya for peace chant. We also chanted the mantra onsite with a group of students and karma yogis. The first part on the chanting online was with the whole world, led by Swami Kailasananda and the second part was led by the Centre’s staff. We ended the chanting session with meditation, Aarati and Prasad. Life gave us inspiring moments. Karma yogis and staff enjoyed teaching and doing collective Sadhana, both online and onsite. We continued reading the Gita, with the commentaries from Master, during the morning Satsangs then participated in the evening Satsangs with Reith and Orleans. We had a public Satsang onsite with many kirtans and some inspiring words of Master on the topic of prayer. There was a nutrition course, a positive thinking course and a meditation course onsite with a couple of participants. There was a positive thinking course online with 37 cheerful students. Everyone was motivated with the onsite Anatomy course, given by Saraswati for two weekends. The Masters kept sending precious help.
God gave us a joyful day with the Celebration of the marriage of Vyasa and Daya, residents of the Paris Centre. We had a morning Puja online with the priest and then an uplifting Puja for the Divine mother at noon, led by Swami Kailasananda. It was a beautiful moment. Many of the Paris’ teachers where there. After the Puja there was a special Prasad prepared by Vyasa and a beautiful meal for everyone, prepared by Maria Enid and her team. The staff and a group of teachers accompanied the couple for the Civil Ceremony, which ended with an Om Tryambakam. The Sun was there giving beautiful light. Returning to the Centre we chanted Om Namo Narayanaya for peace. We had an evening Satsang with Swami Kailasananda and a big family of gurubais.
In spite of the early curfew, the quiet time with the school holidays and the beautiful Spring weather, the students seem to be gradually coming back. There was a cheerful atmosphere at the Centre with some onsite programs. The online daily Om Namo Narayanaya chanting for peace and the online asana classes continued. We started a new Positive Thinking Level 2 online with a group of motivated students. Jayabharati, one of our close teachers gave an interesting onsite anatomy workshop on the topic of the hip. Parallel to the regular activities, there was the second part of an onsite anatomy course about the knee and the correct alignment, led by Saraswati. The participants and the teacher were happy. We continued to read the Gita in the mornings during Satsang except on Fridays when we do the Puja with the priest from Bangalore. For the two public afternoon Satsangs we had many kirtans, the Sunday prayers, and some inspiring words from Master on the topics of peace and life. Girija put prana into the boutique display, in the kitchen, in the reception, in the little garden of the courtyard and everywhere else in the house to make it welcoming for everyone. The staff felt uplifted by the online courses, workshops and evening Satsangs with Reith and Orleans. They were all beautiful. We enjoyed being all together for the meditation, the chanting and the Arati. We enjoyed the lectures, especially the one given by Swami Kailasananda on the topic of Swadhyaya. Everyone felt very grateful. May God and the Masters protect the Paris Centre. May the Divine Mother destroy all negativity and bring love and peace. May Swami Sivananda and Swami Vishnudevananda continue to guide and to inspire all of us. With all our wishes for health and peace. OM.

To abide by this, the classes scheduled at night hours were offered online only. A trial class was offered online as well as in-person, with good number of participants, most of who proceeded to sign up for membership. We gave a workshop on pranayama and prana, by which we received feedback from the students that it was a great opportunity to rethink their diet and lifestyle. May Master and Swamiji’s grace be with all. Om Shanti, Shanti, Shantihi. Om.

She also continued with Bhagavad Gita study group on Sundays. Our regular Gentle Yoga students all signed for new class session. A Meditation course started as well. It is nice to see new teachers getting comfortable teaching online after going through the practice classes with the staff. Toronto was still a good blanket of snow in February and all staff enjoyed sledding and spending time outdoors.
Mid month we started a new online Beginners’ Yoga 1 course on weekends as well as other regularly scheduled courses. A few new teachers joined the online teaching team, receiving weekly updates and tips about teaching online. Several students were happy to give their video testimonies, all very inspiring. Saraswati came back from the weekend Family Day holiday visit from the Yoga Camp Ashram. Nalini and Mookambika went sledding and hurt their back on a very steep hill but seemed to recover well. MARCH 2021
09 Ekadasi APRIL 2021 07 Ekadasi The Karma of the individual determines the form or shape of the experience in this World. – Sri Swami Sivananda |
Glossary
SAKSHI – Witness
NIMITTA – Cause; Instrument
BHAV – Feeling; perception; direct experience; mental attitude; subjective state of being; attitude of mind; state of realization in the heart or mind; a right feeling and frame of mind; right intention; right imagination; right mental disposition; purity of thought. Bhava is a Sanskrit term; there is no proper equivalent in English. It means mental attitude or mental disposition. Bhava is internal feeling. There are three kinds of Bhavas, viz., Sattvic Bhava, Rajasic Bhava and Tamasic Bhava according to the nature of the quality that predominates in man. Sattvic Bhava is divine Bhava. It is Suddha Bhava. Just as thought or memory or will can be cultivated or developed by practice, so also, Bhava can be developed.
Sakshi Bhav – The attitude of remaining as a witness.
Nimitta Bhav – The attitude of performing as an instrument of God. A devotee that always thinks that God does everything and they are only an instrument (Nimitta), directed by the hands of God, then this is Nimitta Bhava. The Bhavas of a Bhakta and a Vedantin differ. The Vedantin entertains Sakshi and Akarta Bhavas. The Bhakta entertains Nimitta Bhava. The Vedantin develops Brahma Bhava. The Bhakta develops Dasya Bhava, and so on.
If anyone injures you, forgive and forget the injury done. You will gain immense spiritual strength. – Sri Swami Sivananda
