Online in March we repeated 108 times the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra collectively with our online students, for healing and protection of our fellow human beings. With the warmer days coming, more attention was brought to our Peace Garden. Two karma yogis of the Centre, Marian and Sasha, put their heart and soul into anything that can help make our garden thrive. A number of new courses were planned for the upcoming weeks: Stress Management, Positive Thinking, Meditation, Cooking and Beginners’ Yoga. Jaya will teach some of the Beginners’ Yoga courses. Savitri will teach everything else. We enjoyed a beautiful celebration of Maha Sivaratri. We performed 2 Pujas, following the online Pujas guided by Yagneswara Dixit, and joined in for the rest of the celebration with our Ashrams in Reith and Orléans. 5 students came here to participate in the energy of the Centre. Ragunath Manet shared a very inspiring and lively Indian dance workshop. We were looking forward to his course.
As March marched on everything continued to go well at the London Centre, still in the context of a national lockdown. We continued with the chanting of the weekly Om Namo Narayanaya, together with the Paris Centre. We offer a short and sweet kirtan workshop right after, a moment spent in the soothing energy of bhakti, and to which we were very much looking forward to each week. We also chanted the Maha Mrityunjaya 108 times at least once weekly with whoever wants to join amongst our students. Marian and Sasha became as active as the birds in the opening Spring season: they appear more often to take care of Swami Vishnudevananda’s Peace Garden. We had a nice little meeting and we will put some energy in producing a little bit of compost going forward. Still regarding the “garden department”, we bought two planters, handmade by a local carpenter. We look forward to starting the planting and growing some new plants. We followed the lovely online workshop with Indian dancer and artist Raghunath Manet, who always shares his contagious energy and enthusiasm for Indian classical culture – a beautiful and joyful way to conclude the week. Weekends were very calm here at the Centre. May the Masters’ blessings and protection be with all of you, always. With best wishes for health and inner peace. Om Tat Sat. OM.

Then we began the transmission in Spanish with a Portuguese translation, where different stories of Lord Siva were related. Different teachers offered devotional songs and we ended with a beautiful arati. The reunion with many students and teachers, who do not participate regularly in our Satsang was very beautiful. Om Namah Sivaya. The Paris Centre continued to chant daily online the Om Namo Narayanaya for peace chant. We also chanted the mantra onsite with a group of students and karma yogis. The first part on the chanting online was with the whole world, led by Swami Kailasananda and the second part was led by the Centre’s staff. We ended the chanting session with meditation, Aarati and Prasad.
In early March Life gave us inspiration with the Celebration of Sivaratri and with the visit of Swami Kailasananda. For Sivaratri, there was a group of close teachers onsite. We chanted the mantra with the Sivananda family online, we offered two uplifting Pujas with the priest from Bangalore and we danced with Ragunath Manet from India. After the online celebration we continued to chant onsite, to dance, to do a last Puja and to meditate until the early morning. Everyone ate and helped to clean the house before leaving at six am after the curfew. Many teachers were there for the uplifting and cheerful Satsang given by Swamiji. She commented some inspiring words of Swami Sivananda on the topic of forgiving our mistakes and seeing them as a way of overcoming fear and of getting close to serenity, calmness and peace. We were a big family for that morning staff Satsang. We celebrated Ganapati’s birthday with an inspiring letter, Om Tryambakam, a gift and the practice of Ganesha mudra. Swamiji and Ganapati went back to the Ashram after the Satsang with the Indian food order in the car. For a public afternoon Sunday Satsang, we chanted the Sunday prayers and some inspiring words on the topic of alertness from Master Sivananda. We enjoyed chanting Om Namo Narayanaya for peace, daily. We continued to read the Gita in the mornings. We had an online meditation course with a little group of motivated students. The online positive thinking course level two continued with inspiring commentaries from the students. There were also two practical asana workshops onsite on the topics of spinal twist and forward bends. The students of the Monday’s gentle course appreciated their practice under the sunshine surrounded by the beautiful plants in the main hall. The Masters keep sending armies of karma yogis to support the running of the Centre and to put a dose of sattva in the house. Some close students stayed in the Centre over night to participate to the life of the Centre. We were all grateful for the opportunity to do collective Sadhana online, guided by the Acharyas, the senior staffs and the gurubais. We appreciated the courses, classes and Satsangs online. Sivaratri was still in the air. The mantra remained with us.
Mid March we were grateful to life for being able to open the Paris Centre, in spite of the new lockdown of the city. God gave us cheerful mornings with the practical courses in the Main hall. The participants of the courses appreciated their practice under the sunshine surrounded by beautiful plants. As usual we chanted Om Namo Narayanaya for peace, daily online accompanied by some teachers onsite. The afternoon courses and classes were very calm. In the evenings we had the regular online classes and courses, before the online Satsangs with Reith and Orleans. There was a stress management onsite course with Omkari and Girija. We had an asana workshop on the topic of relaxation and the regular meditation and positive thinking online courses. For the public Satsangs, we had many kirtans and some inspiring words from Swami Sivananda on the topics of attitude in adversity and application from ‘religious education’. The Masters keep sending precious help to support the Centre. Some close teachers came to stay one or two days with us. Spring was felt in the air. The plants in the Main Hall were blooming. We did many calls and sent personal e-mails to inform the students that the Centre will remain open. Everyone was happy to know that they could continue to come for Satsangs, courses and karma yoga.
May God and the Masters protect the Paris Centre. May the Divine Mother destroy all negativity and bring love and peace. May Swami Sivananda and Swami Vishnudevananda continue to guide and to inspire all of us. With all our wishes for health and peace. OM.

APRIL 2021
07 Ekadasi MAY 2021 07 Ekadasi There is no virtue like Truthfulness. – Sri Swami Sivananda |
Glossary
APANA – a vayu; the negative vital air; the opposite to prana (positive vital air)
Hatha Yoga means the Yoga or union between ‘Ha’ and ‘Tha’. ‘Ha’ means the sun. ‘Tha’ means the moon. Prana is known by the name of sun. Apana is known by the name of moon. Hatha Yoga is the union of the Prana and the Apana.
KUMBHAKA – retention of breath during pranayama practice; a pause where there is no exhalation and no inhalation.
When both air currents are completely stopped, one is said to be in Kumbhaka. Through Kevala Kumbhaka, the knowledge of Kundalini arises. Kundalini is aroused and the Sushumna is free from all sorts of obstacles, attaining perfection in Hatha Yoga. You can practice this Kumbhaka three times a day. He who knows Pranayama and Kevala is the real Yogi. This Kumbhaka cures all diseases and promotes longevity.
Saturate your mind with divine thoughts. – Sri Swami Sivananda
