In early July Hochiminh Centre was full of Prana. We welcomed back the senior staff Swami Pranavananda (yoga farm) and Mirabai ( Japan). The courses were running well, as we started new courses of Yoga 1, Yoga 2, Kid Yoga with good number of students. The Open Class became so popular that we did’t have enough room to fit all the students. With that urgent need for more space for class we renovated the Meditation room to make it bigger , removing the 2 bathrooms to make a big room for asana class and Satsang. We held a very successful Open House with more than 20 people showing up and they signed up for the upcoming courses. The energy is very high and we feel peace at the Centre by the blessing of our master and Guru. We we had the highest student count ever in this Centre, after a very successful Open House, with many new students coming for new Yoga 1 and Meditation courses. We have almost completed a major remodelling of the meditation room on the second floor. We removed two bathrooms, which leaves a very large room for asana class and Satsang. This room is ideal, as it is only one flight of stairs up from the entrance, and very quiet and beautiful with large windows and a nice balcony with plants and a space for sitting outside. As usual here, the students were very cooperative and agreeable to attending classes packed into the other three levels of the Centre, even with the prenatal class held outside on the third floor terrace! Parking was another challenge, as one evening we had 50 motorcycles here at once, and we are planning to rent additional parking at a nearby house. We had well-attended “Yoga for Back Pain”, and “Yoga for Heathy Skin” workshops.
During mid-July we had nearly record attendance in the open classes and courses, and we finished two Yoga 2 courses, which will now become one Yoga 3. We said goodbye and thank you to Mirabai, who was here for one year as staff and will now be staff in the Tokyo Centre. We had a wonderful Mahasamadhi celebration, with many graduates of the Dalat TTC coming for Puja and high-energy chanting. We completed the renovation of the second floor meditation room, with all staff helping to clean up and restore the room for Satsangs and asana classes. Om Namah Sivaya. In early July we had a lot of work in the Centre since the girl in charge of cleaning is not coming, so this is a good opportunity to work and get warm cleaning the Montevideo Centre on this cold winter. Although there were fewer activities the Centre had a beautiful time, with good turnout of students. Pregnant, elderly, children and regular classes developed normally. The trial class was an excellent opportunity for some people interested in coming to beginner courses. Devotional chanting course started with much enthusiasm and good predisposition of the students. Om Namah Sivaya. Blessings from Montreal. In early July classes continued well. Courses and workshops slowed down for the summer. The free community class in the park is growing, on Saturdays. In total 40 people attended. Many new and younger faces participated, it was a peaceful class and the students were pleased to practice in the outdoors. A new teacher has been trained, and will be giving the class for the duration of the summer. The Centre was closed for Canada day. We saw some the regular children from children’s class head to the Ashram for kids camp. Also, regular teachers heading to the Ashram for the TTC refresher. We’re sure that they will benefit from their time at the camp and gain further inspiration, and bring some of that energy back to the Centre. The TTC refresher concluded at the camp 9 teachers from the Centre attended, they found much inspiration in their time away. A few of the teachers will plan and hold a workshop for all teachers at the Centre in September, to draw out the teachings so everyone can learn parts of what they experienced. We were pleased to welcome Swami Sankarananda ji for Satsang and to teach the open class, accompanied by Nagaraj ji, Lalita Chaitanya ji and Ganga from the Vietnam Centre, who were at the camp. Many students, teachers and karma yogis attended. The Sunday prayers were beautiful with a high vibration, most people stayed for the meal after spending time connecting with one another.

VYAVAHARA – worldly, material, practical relations, the empirical truth of things, the practical life. When all vitality is sapped by unnecessary worry, anxieties, troubles and other worldly Vyavaharas, one cannot do any spiritual practice.
The SAMADHI JNANI AND VYAVAHARA JNANI –
The way of living of Jivanmuktas or sages differs. One sage lives in a princely style. Bhagiratha lived this kind of life. Another sage lives in a beggarly manner. One sage is always in a meditative mood. He never works. He never talks. He lives always in seclusion. Jada Bharata lived this kind of life. Another sage lives in a busy crowded city. He plunges himself in service. He talks with the people. He delivers lectures, holds religious classes, and writes books, etc. Sri Sankara led this kind of life. This is due to Prarabdha. Every sage has his own Prarabdha. If all sages have the same kind of living and the same kind of Prarabdha, this world will be like a prison. Variety in manifestation is the nature of Prakriti. The Jnani who has desire for worldly activities or Vyavahara and works in the world is a Vyavahara Jnani. The Jnani who withdraws himself completely from the universe is a Samadhi Jnani.
Knowledge is the same in these two types of Jnanis. But the Samadhi Jnani enjoys more Ananda (Bliss) than the Vyavahara Jnani. The Samadhi Jnani is one who is ever absorbed in Brahman. He does not see names and forms. The world has entirely vanished for him. He is quite unable to work. He is a Muzub (a silent sage of the highest category). He is a Paramahamsa. Food has to be thrust forcibly in the case of a Samadhi Jnani.
A Vyavahara Jnani will experience pain when his finger is cut, but a Samadhi Jnani will not experience pain even a bit even if his leg is amputated. The case of Shams Tabriez of Multan would serve as an example to justify the truth of the above statement. When he was skinned out, he laughed and uttered Analhaq, Analhaq. ‘Analhaq’ means ‘I am He’, and corresponds to the Hindu ‘Soham’.
A Vyavahara Jnani sees names and forms. A Vyavahara Jnani knows that this is Vishta (faeces), this is Chandana (sandal paste); this is a fool, this is an intelligent man; this is an Adhikari (a qualified person), this is a rogue, this is an honest man. But, he is not affected in his feelings. He is neither exalted when he gets success nor depressed when he fails. He neither loves an honest man nor hates the rogue. In this sense, he has Sama Drishti or equal vision.
The desire for work in the case of the Vyavahara Jnani is due to his Prarabdha. He uses his body and mind as his instruments just as a carpenter uses his tools. While working, he has not lost his Brahmic consciousness even for a second. He is settled always in the Chaitanya Svarupa or pure consciousness.
The Vyavahara jnani sees the whole world within himself. He sees nothing outside, just as you do. He sees through his Divya Drishti (divine perception) or Jnana Chakshus (divine vision), and not through the physical eyes. A Jnani, with the help of the powerful lens, the eye of Atman (the Self, God), sees the whole world with all the details of creation. He sees the astral body, the causal body with its Samskaras, the Pranic aura, psychic aura, magnetic aura, etc., of a man. It is very difficult for a worldly man with practical Buddhi (intellect) to mentally visualize how a Jnani sees the physical universe while he is working.
Be in the world, but not of the world. Lead a simple life. Lead a regulated life. – Sri Swami Sivananda
