Gurugram October 2017 | Preface
Blessed Self,
Om Namah Sivaya
Greetings to all from the Sivananda Organization Headquarters. By the grace of Master and Swamiji, all Sivananda Centres and Ashrams are busy as ever being present for the student in search of yoga. Our European and North American Ashrams and Centres are extremely busy at this time, extending their TTC season into November and December, while the South India Ashrams prepare their facilities for their high season.
A teaching team will travel to Rudraprayag, Himalaya Mountains, India to offer a TTC in late October just before the last TTC of the successful season at Netala, Uttar Kashi, Himalayas, North India concludes mid October. Bahamas will offer a TTC and ATTC side by side in November, while further north, the Yoga Camp and Orleans Ashrams extend their high season into November.
Swami Sitaramananda-ji and TTC teachers just completed the latest TTC in China with great success.
We are happy to announce that on Friday, 8th September 2017, the birth anniversary of Master Swami Sivananda, a new SYVC Ashram was inaugurated in India. The new Ashram is called Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Tapaswini Ashram, It is located in a rural area near Gudur, in the state of Andhra Pradesh, about 3 hours journey north of Chennai. The first yoga group welcomed will be a Yoga Vacation group, beginning October 1st 2017.
Other South Indian Ashrams are getting ready for their busy season, starting next month. If you haven’t made plans yet this winter, these three Ashrams in the South of India offer a wide range of courses which might be very interesting to you, including the annual auspicious South India Yatra, a guided spiritual journey to South India’s most sacred places, held this year on the 4th to 7th Dec 2017. Please check the website www.sivananda.org/india or http://sivananda.org.in/neyyardam/south-india-yatra/
Congratulations to Nataraja Delhi SYVC for their Silver Jubilee celebration this September.
Due to your continued support, the Sivananda Organization is able to impart the teachings of Swami Vishnudevanandaji and expand facilities for such courses and spiritual support. We are glad that Swamiji’s teachings continue to grow and more spiritual homes are opening around the world.
Pranams to all.
Be virtuous. – Sri Swami Sivananda

Raja Yoga
From Discourse IV: “Kaivalya Pada- On Realization”
IV.11. HETU-PHALASRAYALAMBANAIH SAMGRHITATVAD ESAM ABHAVE TADABHAVAH
‘Desires are held together by cause, effect, support and objects; and when these disappear, so do the desires.’
Commentary:
What gives momentum to desires is cause and effect, or past Karma; support, or the activity of the mind which creates them; and the objects of the desires. When these foundations are removed, so are the desires.
Anger is the worst fire. – Sri Swami Sivananda
Bhagavad Gita Quote
Chapter VI: The Yoga of Meditation
VI.7. JITAATMANAH PRASHAANTASYA PARAMAATMAA SAMAAHITAH;
SHEETOSHNA SUKHA DUHKHESHU TATHAA MAANAAPAMAANAYOH.
(Krishna speaking to Arjuna)
The Supreme Self of him who is self-controlled and peaceful is balanced in cold and heat, pleasure and pain, as also in honour and dishonour.
VI.8. JNAANA VIJNAANA TRIPTAATMAA KOOTASTHO VIJITENDRIYAH;
YUKTAH ITYUCHYATE YOGEE SAMALOSHTAASHMAKAANCHANAH.
The Yogi who is satisfied with the knowledge and the wisdom (of the Self), who has conquered the senses, and to whom a clod of earth, a piece of stone and gold are the same, is said to be harmonised (that is, is said to have attained the state of Nirvikalpa Samadhi).
When one rises to the state of Samadhi, he does not make the mistake of doubting as to whether it is lower or higher or the highest. He knows what it is without doubt, quite naturally. – Sri Swami Sivananda
